The Greater Madison County Community Foundation administers one grant cycle each year and accepts grant applications for charitable projects and programs that address a wide range of community needs. Eligible projects may support areas including arts, culture, and humanities; human services; education; environment and animal welfare; public and community benefit; health; and other initiatives that strengthen Madison County communities.
Guided by best practices from the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, the Foundation typically allocates approximately 50% of available grant funds to a small number of larger projects (generally two to four awards), with the remaining 50% supporting smaller requests.
Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or a governmental entity. Organizations that do not meet this requirement must partner with an eligible organization willing to serve as a fiscal sponsor.
The 2026 grant application will be available on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, and must be submitted by Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 4:00 PM.
